Gosh! Geek or Bad Mum.
Just got an iMac for my lounge. It kind of triples up as a DVD player, TV and Computer for the kids. I am currently using Miglia TV Mini Receiver for my TV reception on the iMac.
To be honest I am having a few teething problems with the TV set up. Channels keep dropping on and off - I guess that’s the problem with FreeVIEW in this area - it’s rubbish! But CBEEBIES seem to work regardless so I don’t really care too much. I am not a huge TV watcher myself. I think Matt and Tom are looking into the technical reasons that I am not getting full reception. I will get Tom to blog his findings.
The kids spend hours with their friends playing with PhotoBooth. I have about 500 strange pictures so far. It is so funny watching three young ladies, two wannabe Spidermans and a one little toddler all trying to get in front of the iSight. To my amazement they all made it.
The other exciting benifit I have discovered with having a portable and a static (Kids) Mac in the house is this!
This morning I set up iChat AV over Bonjour to the kids in the lounge and my laptop in my room. The kids working a freeware colouring package. Me in my room drinking tea and catching up on the news online. It was fab. I was able to chat to them and keep an eye on them while having my tea in peace (and no I did not lock my door!). They were safe and I had a little “me” time. Bliss!
