Apple Expo II

I’ve been going to the Expo for a few years now and I must say this is the most “French” Expo in years. Very few of the demos were in English and the Apple stand was small in comparison to previous years. That said - there were four Minis (one of them a stretch model), two Audis, a BMW sports thingie, a Smart Car and a Citroen C3 and these things take up a lot of room.

Best stand? Radtech. They have some really neat products and made me spend money there. I was impressed!

Most Impressive Demo? Captures professional photgraphy in Paris. Apart from a really impressive lighting system that I’ve never seen the equal of in Northern Ireland, they brought along a brace of fashion models.

The “Britney/Madonna” award doesn’t go to a BMW sporty thing with an iPod dock, no but rather to a strange leather patterned case for the iPod HiFi. Honestly it looks like something straight out of a Britney video.

Knomo Bags had almost the most stylish computer cases around but were beat to the punch by these crazy be-ez guys. Bravo!

Sam at SeeFile also wins the prize for not only accosting me out of the crowd in a really nice way but also remembering me the second day and rushing over to give me the version Anglaise of the marketing material.

On the downside, the WiFi was unusable as well as expensive (yeah, you pay…and then you see the bandwidth is pitiful). The food in Parc des Expositions was expensive and compared to the rest of Paris, dreadful. There were no 30″ screens in evidence and the Apple staff were REALLY protective of letting you anywhere near the machines, iPod or Mac.

I’m relaxing now, writing this blog post and nursing a really bad blister from all the walking. A lot of the companies will be at Mac Expo in London so it might be a good chance to see some of the cool, new products up close. I fly back to Dublin tonight and am really looking forward to a good nights sleep.
