And I thought laptops were getting smaller!

Yes I know… I know this photo is a joke, but the question is still amongst us; with Apple’s ever decreasing form, people in the PC world are still putting up with a bunch of brutish, cumbersome laptops. I recently came face to face with one of the offending articles and to be honest at the price point of around £400 it did what it was supposed to do. It had the display, keyboard, wireless etc, but I was left with the unmistakable feeling that I had been done over by “the Lord of the Plastics”. I’m not saying they are all bad (there are always the “Sony Vaio’s”) but why are so many of these units so chunky and ugly? I feel they just don’t fill the owner with the any of the faith that their hard-earned cash has been invested in a unit that will last outside the delivery packaging. Hey, they are still being snapped up by the bewildered millions!! Marketing is a wonderful thing. Eek |

A good friend of mine was well and truly planted in the noose of inevitability when only two months down the line he couldn’t give the machine away. Incidently he is now the proud owner of a Mac mini.
I must say though it seems from my point of view that there is an air of change around, more more people have discovered the virtues of the Mac. Partly due to the iPod, partly due to the fact they are fed up fighting fires regarding viruses and spyware. I have to say, some of the great contributions for change lie in the ease of use, the stunning good looks and the simple fact that your Mac wont depreciate as quickly.
What are your views on this matter I would love to know?
